Following a year of intensive research and testing, JE Pistons is pleased to present the first and only specifically engineered turbo motorcycle piston forging for the Suzuki Hayabusa. This new Forged Side Relief (FSR) piston is the first of an industry unique 2618 alloy aluminum forging, designed to specifically meet the needs of turbo-charged applications. Engineered to be stronger, lighter weight, and more rigid than ever before, the new FSR design allows you to run high boost levels in both first and second generation Hayabusa motors. The new FSR pistons feature internal cavities and external profiles to reduce weight and create a very rigid construction. This allows for reduced skirt width, improved stability, increased strength, and minimized piston to wall contact. JE Pistons used advanced Finite Element Analysis to refine and improve on the FSR piston design for the Hayabusa. All this adds up to significant reductions in friction and more horsepower to your wheel. Extensive testing by Joe Hahn with the Orient Express ProStreet Hayabusa Turbo and extreme boost levels provided consistent performance. Joe examined the pistons after disassembly, and the pistons appeared perfect despite numerous dyno sessions and passes at the strip. At the conclusion of testing, pistons were returned to JE Pistons for further examination in their laboratory and passed with flying colors.
