Blog - Orient Express Storms Kuwait and Bahrain Again!Joe Hahn, master engine builder and turbo Hayabusa specialist, has just returned from another successful visit to our customers and friends STS Racing in Kuwait. On the trip out, Joe stopped in the UK to pick up Sean Mills from BigCC Racing, and together they headed further east to make some serious horsepower! Brutal temperatures and long hours waited for them in the desert. With highs of 118F/48C breathing alone was difficult!?

Arriving in Kuwait on Saturday, Joe immediately began working on the first project bike - there was little more than a bare frame waiting. What started as a basically stock Suzuki Hayabusa, turned into a fire breathing 600+ horsepower BigCC Turbocharged monster! Featuring the latest BigCC Racing Stage 3 Race Turbo kit, with a Garrett GT-40 ball bearing turbo, AMS 1000 boost controller, and full Motec engine management and data acquisition. Of course, forged JE Pistons and Carrillo Rods were carefully selected to ensure a bottom end that would hold up to big boost from the GT-40 turbo. The full build and install was done in just two days, with full dyno tuning!?

Next, attention turned to an air cooled classic, the Suzuki GS-1100. Joe built a Pro-Mod motor for this old school beast. A full motor rebuild from the cases up, including a slick auto transmission and 83mm big bore JE Pistons. A little nitrous was added, well, enough to help this GS-1100 run consistent 7.20 passes later in the week! By Wednesday, Joe and Sean were in the air again, on their way to Bahrain. 4 days, 2 engines built, and two days of racing to go!?

Once arriving in Bahrain, Joe and Sean made their way to the fantastic motorsports facility known as Bahrain International Circuit, which was designed to host Formula 1 auto racing. A full ? mile drag strip and garages are part of this top class facility. The races were Thursday and Friday at Bahrain, and the Turbo Hayabusa that Joe built ran consistent 8.00 at 300km/hr (about 186 mph), which was the fastest trap speed of any bike in the class. The GS-110 also did really well, running 7.20?s pass after pass. Excellent results with only four days of preparation and testing, and when you factor in ambient temperatures of 118F and track temperatures of 160F, the results are all the more impressive. Intake air temperatures were also excessive, requiring extensive tuning to compensate between passes.?

Stay tuned for more news from Kuwait and Bahrain! Joe has been asked back for another visit!
